Amazing footless footballer causes a stir in Rio

Report by Sam Datta-Paulin

Gabriel Muniz has amazed his friends, family and Barcelona football club with his footballing skills.

Like most boys his age, the 11-year-old Brazilian wants to be a footballer when he grows up. And he is good, winning several medals as his school's star sportsman.

But there's more to Gabriel than meets the eye- he was born without any feet.

He wears prosthetics for his everyday life, but when this young boy gets on the sports field, the boots come off and he dribbles, volleys and strikes on his bare ankles.

Such is his talent that Gabriel has managed to impress Barcelona, who invited him to travel to spain and meet the club, including his hero Lionel Messi.

Gabriel realises his disability means he probably will not make a professional team, so he has set about trying to make a paralympics soccer team, so one day, he might get the recognition he deserves.
