Women in the north-eastern Chinese city of Qingdao recently came up with the facekini to protect their skin from the sun.

Beach lovers were seen wearing colourful face masks, also dubbed "facekinis", that can cover up their entire head and neck.

While many westerners take pride in their sun-tanned skin tone, most Chinese women are eager to keep their porcelain look.
