Animals at London Zoo have been getting in the London 2012 spirit by taking part in some events of their own.

The creatures have been enjoying a special "Animal Olympics" designed to show off their talents.

Owls, penguins, meercats and rats have been wowing crowds of onlookers.

"We have animals here who obviously have their own athletic abilities," said Zoo Keeper Lucy Smith.

"That's part of their everyday life, so actually to tie that into the Olympic theme is a really good idea I think."
