Nail artists have been showcasing their latest designs at Nail Fashion Week in Brazil.

Models' fingers, with nails painted in a variety of imaginative designs, paraded down a specially-made mini catwalk.

Brazilian women are the world's biggest nail polish consumers and celebrities, nail artists and nail polish lovers flocked to the event.

Organiser Adrianne Elias said: "Brazil is the world's biggest nail varnish consumer in terms of volume, and is only behind the United States in terms of profits.

"So Brazilian women have strongly embraced nail polish fashion and this is why we have so many new releases, so many innovations and so many new collections."

As well as a look at the latest colour trends, the event also offered its visitors the chance to get a free manicure.
