A 48-year-old man from east China is attempting to break the world record for slicing cucumbers with playing cards.

Ye Tongxin has been training for ten years, by firing the cards with such speed and thrust that they slice through fruit and vegetables.

He mainly practices on cucumbers and loofahs although he can also now use the cards to slice into a watermelon.

His current best performance is to cut a row of 12 cucumbers in 47.2 seconds. His goal now is to cut 18 cucumbers in 60 seconds by the end of this year to create a Guinness World Record.
