Tawabo is a quadrilingual robot who guides tours around Tokyo Tower for some of their 100,000 foreign visitors.

He speaks Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.

The bright orange robot was made a full employee of the company on Wednesday and will be working throughout the day, seven days a week.

He does have to stop and recharge, and when he had Tawabo then picks a language and makes a loop around the observation deck to explain to visitors what they are looking at.

Tawabo, is looking forward to his new job, he said: "I want to learn from other employees so that I can be hospitable and greet customers. Please come to Tokyo Tower to see me."
