An eight-year-old boy has played an instrumental role in the demolition of a chimney in Hartlepool.
Jamie Brown was given the honour of pushing the plunger to kick-start the destruction of the 230ft Steetley Chimney.
The chimney had been a part of the Hartlepool skyline since the early 1960s, when it was part of the town's magnesite works which produced chemicals needed for making metal.
The chance to demolish the chimney was offered up as a raffle prize, with 6000 tickets on sale for £1 each.
Jamie's grandfather won the raffle, but handed the honour over to his eight-year-old grandson.
Jamie described his involvement as "exciting".
