Eiffel Tower gets huge glitter ball for Bastille Day

Report by Sam Datta-Paulin

The Eiffel Tower has been given a huge glitterball as part of the Bastille Day celebrations and fireworks display.

The iconic structure, usually considered a testament to French chic, was given the gaudy decoration as part of Paris' Bastille Day celebrations.

The National Day commemorates the symbolic start of the French revolution - the storming of city's Bastille jail in 1789.

Alongside the disco ball, a spectacular light show and fireworks display wowed the thousands of Parisians who had gathered to celebrate.
