As a protest against world food shortages goes, blowing up bread is a little ironic.

German artist Janine Mackenroth has done just that though, sending up 194 loaves of bread to mark each country of the world.

The 24-year-old's Munich park installation "breaking of the bread" destroyed one loaf every three seconds, to commemorate those who die of hunger worldwide.

The display took months to set up and several technicians to supervise, but it was all over in just 15 minutes.

Janine says she does not expect to change the world with this installation. But she did blow a little bit of it up.
