Hundreds of fans, dressed in coloured wigs and costumes, have gathered in Los Angeles for the 21st Anime Expo.
Entrance lines stretched beyond the doors of the convention centre as fans waited to be the first to enter the largest Japenese animation and comics convetion in the US.
The expo gives enthusiasts the chance to speak with animators, learn more about the anime world and speak with other fans.
"It's kind of unique and it's also a great way to meet new people who have the same interests as you" said Daniel Joseph, who often dresses up in the costumes of some anime characters.
More than 100,000 enthusiasts are expected to attend the convention which lasts until July 1.
