One of the largest yellowcheek carp ever recorded has been netted in a lake near Shanghai.

A local fisherman reeled in the 1.62m-long fish in Baoshan Lake on Friday.

"This is a fierce, carnivorous fish, likely at the top of the food chain. It's quite aggressive," said Qu Yunfang, a professor from the School of Life Science at Shanghai's Fudan University.
